I love cookbooks too. I just don't use them as much as I should. I really buy them for the pretty pictures and to see how the food is styled and staged-lol.

Oh, I know what you mean, Lisa--I feel this way especially about any cookbook by Tessa Kiros!

I actually have several cookbooks I've never cooked from. They are wonderful eye candy and armchair travel.

I'm totally with you. I like curling up with cookbooks and just looking at them just as much as I love cooking from them. That Jamie Oliver one is a good one. I have one MaryJane Butters book, but not that one- off to investigate!

Mmm, cookbooks! My favorite (acquired this year!) is "Serving up the Harvest" -- it's not very pretty, but it's the only cookbook I actually use on a regular basis for, y'know, COOKING. (Like you, I have plenty that I use for dreaming!)

Cate, I'm glad to hear that you like the Jamie Oliver one...I haven't cooked from it yet!

Elisha, you know I'll have to check out the one you mentioned, even if it is mostly for actual cooking!

Okay, so we don't live in Tokyo...

    • ...but "Texas to Yamaguchi" didn't have quite the same ring to it. No matter where we are, we're living cozy. For now, it's an uninsulated Japanese mini-castle; in the future, it'll be a country house in Germany. I'm keepin' house happily amidst a family life of part-time homeschooling, traveling, sports, unfinished craft projects, good food and music, and overflowing bookcases. Just the way we like it.
